After more than 5 years since the last CCR National Convention was held, CHARIS Philippines had its first National Convention dubbed as CHARISCON PHILIPPINES 2024 themed “ONE CHARIS, ONE MISSION” last October 4-6, 2024 at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu, Philippines.
More than 2,000 leaders and members of Catholic Charismatic Renewal prayer groups, ministries, parish-based and trans parochial communities attended the 3-day convention, coming from 60 out of 86 Dioceses nationwide, including some 50 priests, more than 60 religious sisters, and a number of religious brothers and seminarians.
Ten (10) plenary topics were focused on “Our Charismatic Identity”, “Our Charismatic Spirituality””, Our Charismatic Mission”. Three Eucharistic Celebrations were celebrated by Archbishop Jose S. Palma, Bishop Guillermo Afable and Bishop Teodoro Bacani.
A special session on the Role and Functions of CCR Spiritual Directors was given by Rev. Fr. Bartolome A. Pastor, attended by CCR Priests and Spiritual Directors.
The event was filled with powerful talks by anointed speakers, joyful songs, spirit-filled praise and worship, insightful sharing, capped by an empowering baptism in the Holy Spirit.
CHARISCON participants joyfully went home empowered, refreshed and truly blessed as Bishop Teodoro Bacani commissioned everyone to GO IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT during the culminating mass.
On the other hand, the newly constituted CHARIS National Service of Communion (CNSC) had their first formal organizational meeting, at the end of the first day of the Convention. The CNSC is composed of Coordinators from different regions and representatives from other charismatic realities, like the CCR Priests, CCR Religious Sisters, CCR Youth, and the Federation of Trans parochial Charismatic Communities, with Fe BARINO as the National Coordinator. The CNSC Members were given formal appointment by Archbishop Jose Palma who is the National Episcopal Adviser, designated by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
